I couldn’t help but started taking a lot of pictures because the regalia that the dancers had on were vigorously stunning. It was so much different than what I saw in pictures and videos. I was especially amazed by the male regalia. It was delicately put together with feathers and different pieces; and the details and the patterns of the clothes were like a piece of art. However, some people just had a cape and sunglasses on. It showed that dress code for pow wow is not too strict and people can wear whatever they like to the event. I politely asked one of the dancers to take a photo with me and she was very nice to me. After taking the picture, we talked for a few minutes. She then excused herself because she was about to go out to the field and dance.

Have You Ever Participated In A Wagon Train?
When I was a kid, I used to go with my grandparents. What fun it was! As an adult, I have only been able to join up for a couple of days. There is one this summer I really want to go on, though. It is is to commemorate the 100th aniversary of the Fort Pierre-Deadwood Trail in South Dakota. From what I hear, there are many historic sites along the trail. The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe is putting on a pow wow, and landowners have given easements and some have mowed so you can see the old wagon wheel ruts. I really want to go, the boss says he can’t spare me (grrr-still working on this) and I was just wondering what wagon train stories you have! Any honey wagon drivers out there?
I Have A Gpa That Will Be 3.7-3.8, I Am A Transfer Student, What Do I Need To Get To Ucla Or Berkely?
I am a Psychology major at a community college, and I used to have a 4.0, but I fear it may be blemished by a couple of Bs and at least one C. However the counselor at Berkeley told me that I already have a high GPA and should start focusing on volunteering and clubs.
They said Psychology was one of the more full majors, which worries me.
As for clubs and activities, I’ve fallen short, I’ve been an ICC rep for a club for some time(but didn’t do anything), I’ve been in a club that is trying to get bottle and can recycling to campus but hasn’t made much progress, I’ve presented a paper in HTCC at UC Irvine and submitted an abstract to be published in some student journal , I am part of the honors program, Another club I’m in hasn’t been doing much since volunteering at a Pow Wow(which I spent more than 12 hours volunteering across 3 days), and I’m trying to get my campus to stop using styrofoam plates but don’t know where to start.
What can I do now? I’m a Cali resident BTW.
Native Indians Living Below Poverty?
july 4th 2008 i went to a pow wow in CHEROKEE N,C, …I JUST FEEL SO ANGRY….. how can the united states of america, who helps all other coutries…..how can they ignore all the native indians? those on the res ,live below poverty, trailers torn apart, plastic nailed up for a patio, people wearing clothes that should have been discarded years ago……IT’S LIKE OUT OF SIGHT..OUT OF MIND !! ..the natives have dreams for their lives too, SHOULDN’T OUR DREAMS COME TRUE TOO ?? i see shows on tv…for food and houses being built in other countries….. WHAT ABOUT MINE ?? last night on tv….a show about the NAVAJO’S have water under their land, but have no leagal rights to dig a well…..the american gov. didn’t give them rights to drill when they GAVE THEM THE RES !! they have to HAUL WATER to their homes ( which ALSO has NO ELECTRICITY !! ) AMERICANS WITH NO ELECTRICITY !! IN 2008….WHAT A DISGRACE UPON AMERICA !! …..is ther anyone one else who has seen this tradegey on the res ?
