How Do You Dance Fancy Shawl Native American ?
Well I always wanted to dance pow wow ! But I dont know the dance steps. I look on youtube for videos & I watch them. Thats all I been doinq for the past month , but its not working. And im 13 turning 14 and i wanna dance before next year . I need a video to SHOW the dance steps. Well PLEASE get back ASAP ! THank you

For formal dances you will need to study with an experienced dancer or elder of the tribe.
That is the way it is in my tribe.
There is usually always an open dance where everyone can dance. At that point you can dance however you would like.
I think it varies by tribe, but I think it would be disrespectful to just jump in during the more formal dances.
Get with your elders and see what you need to do.
hmmm…I can gurantee you will not find any instructions on how to fancy dance…lol…I cant wait to tell this one to my co-workers tomorrow…anyways, Like Brings Light said, go to pow wows, dance at the intertribal dances (this is when non-natives are allowed to dance with or without regalia, there will be a guy with a microphone or loud voice announcing them) dont dance anything not intertribal, chances are, you’ll be told to get off the dance floor. I was taught by one of my friends’ moms when I was a kid, maybe if you know somebody that does it you can ask them to show you? You wiill alsio have to learn how to make the regalia, how to care for it, fix your hair, proper pow wow protocol, etc…

People learn to dance by doing it. Our children start dancing as soon as they can walk. They learn by watching and then doing it themselves. Start by going to local pow wows and dance the intertribals. Watch the category for fancy shawl. Watch what the women do, especially those who win, and then try it out during the next intertribal.
