<description>Hello, this company is no longer in Heron. It has been out of business as far as I know for 20 years. The best ideas I have for finding one of those capotes is to try www.crazycrow.com and find the blanket. You can also order a capote pattern from them as well.

This company did exist and was a modern trading post not related to the old historical name. They produced reproduction beadwork, capotes, and many other related items for sale.

<description>Dear Black Otter Trading Post Persons:

I recently visited Fort Clatsop National Historic Site and Park, near Astoria Oregon. In this old recreated Lewis and Clark fort was a Hudsons Bay Company wool blanket capote with the following name tag:
                       THE
GREAT NORTHWEST FUR &amp; TRADING POST
                  HERON MONTANA

Is there now, or was there ever such a capote producing company or establishment located in Heron Montana. I presumed that with your field of interest and knowlege, you might know of this company if it existed in Heron. It may have just been a private home that sewed these capotes made from Hudson&#039;s Bay Company point blankets. I am pretty sure that it was or had no association with the original NorthWest Trading Company out of Montreal Canada in the early 1800&#039;s. It looks more like an establishment in the 20 century that produced Capotes (wool blanket coats)for sale to the general public.

The Capote I looked at was brown wool, of thick quality, with one black stripe. It had a hood, and the hood, and shoulder-arm seam was fringed.

Thank you.
