controlling the humidity and temperature ( so it doesn’t fluctuate) is important to things made of wood, paint, even stone. fluctuations cause wood to expand, contract, dry out, crack. things like stucco, too, i think.
murals are particularly susceptible to this sort of damage.
The light is controlled to keep paintings and fabric from fading.

a constant steady environment(humidity, temperature and light) help to preserve a wide range or artifacts(objects) found in museums. They can have furs, feathers, oil paintings, birch bark baskets, old books, papers and documents to name a few.
Keeping the environment unchanging helps to ensure that your grand children’s, grandchildren can experience and see real objects from real history.
Sudden changes cause problems. Too much humidity and you get mold. Too little humidity and things dry out and break.Too much light things fade. Too quick temperature changes can cause things to crack or break.

    Hi,
When it’s not controlled properly ,too much Humidity ,destroys Humanity, including artifacts , it’s like anything else , no matter what ,
everything got to be controlled, even our own conduct !

if the humidity or temperature are either to high or to low it could damage the exhibits, either by drying them out or making them warp. If there is to much light it can fade paintings and suchlike

heat and humidity are like the worst enemies of ancient artifacts they speed up decay of the materials ans that kind of stuff

  • Trisha:

They have to protect the artifacts. A lot of them will be destroyed if it isn’t controlled.
